How to Read This MeterThe chart shows the proportion of 10 measures on which the hospital performs in one of three tiers, compared to Maine general acute care hospitals. These three tiers of performance are: - Best (green) is the percent of measures the hospital performs best—where the hospital is one of the top 10% of hospitals in terms of performance on those measures.
- Average (yellow) is the percent of measures the hospital performs like most other hospitals—where the hospital is one of the middle 80% of hospitals in terms of performance on those measures.
- Worst (red) is the percent of measures the hospital performs worst—where the hospital is one of the bottom 10% of hospitals in terms of performance on those measures.
The 10 measures relate to heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical infections, and nursing. The color chart shows at a glance how the hospital performs on the 10 measures: - If the chart is all green (or Best = 100%), the hospital is among the best hospitals for all 10 measures.
- If the chart is all yellow (or Average = 100%), the hospital is average on all 10 measures.
- If the chart is all red (or Worst = 100%), the hospital is among the worst hospitals on all 10 measures.
- If the chart is multi-colored, the hospital has mixed performance on the 10 measures, in proportions shown on the graphic and explained in the legend.
